My early trip from Chicago to Ohio took around 8 hours on the Greyhound bus. I was met at the bus station by one of my hosts for my stay in Ohio, this time I would be couchsurfing with a couple.
My first night in Ohio was spent getting to know my hosts, they cooked me a lovely meal and then we went out for drinks.
I spent my first day in Ohio with one of my hosts, who took the time to show me around. We went to see a waterfall which was lovely even on a cold day. Then walked around town, we visited pawn shops and the state capitol. Ohio is nice however there is not really alot to see.
My hosts took me to the local casino at night which was my first time in one in America, a big difference to ones back at home.
Today I spent my 27th birthday exploring Ohio more, I visited the German Village which was lovely even on a rainy day. I loved the cobbled streets and small cafes and shops.
I visited a very cute bookstore in the German Village on recommendation. So many floors and rooms full of books, I sat for a short time and looked up my next stop on my travels.
My last stop in Ohio was to visit the Franklin Conservatory, which was nice to walk around. This was free to do and there are a number of rooms with themes and lovely plants to see.
My trip to Ohio made me love couchsurfing even more. Even though there was not much in Ohio my hosts made my trip a great one. They took me out for karaoke for my birthday and even had gone out of their way to buy me a birthday cake. People are so friendly and taking part in Couchsurfing on my travels allowed great opportunities to get to know locals and make new friends.
Next stop… Nashville
