Thank you so much to whereonearchshouldwegonow.wordpress.com for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger award. I am so thankful for someone to acknowledge my work and I am very excited about this post 🙂
“this award is awarded by bloggers to new bloggers to recognise achievements and offer support” This is definitely a great idea for new bloggers to get noticed in the blogging community.
I have been asked to answer 10 questions for the Sunshine BloggerAward:
What inspired you to start blogging?
I am a huge travel lover and spend most of my free time searching on Instagram for holiday inspiration. I particularly enjoy discovering new travel bloggers to follow. This is what gave me the inspiration to start blogging. I not only wanted to keep a blog of what I had done for myself but also, to inspire others to travel. I always look at how successful the travel bloggers I follow on Instagram are, and always say to myself ‘I can do that aswell, I can have that life’ So I started my travel blog when I returned after a 3 month trip to America so I have only had my blog for around 3-4 months. Each day I am inspired by so many bloggers, current ones I follow daily and new ones I find through Instagram, that I definitely want to make my blog as great as it can be. Thank you to you all for being my inspiration 🙂
Do you have long-term goals for your blog?
I would absolutely love to be able to earn an income from my travel blog. I would love to advertise on my blog for holiday companies, hotels, tours, flights and even clothing stores. I see so many travel bloggers with paid partnerships and, being able to travel to some of the most beautiful places in the world, which I would also love to be able to do. Having to work full time to support my love for travel is hard, when you have so many places you want to visit. I would love to grow my following and be able to inspire so many people through my blog. My aim for the year is to have up to 1000 followers on my blog, this may not seem much to some travel bloggers but I would be so happy to reach this goal. Which is why I feel this award is an amazing idea to help new bloggers break into the blogger community.
What do you find most challenging about blogging about your topic?
I am very new to blogging, having previously never been a writer, so to get noticed and make my posts as noticeable as possible has been the most challenging. As there are so many amazing writers in the travel community with such amazing blogs, I find it hard to even get close to their standard. I love to read other blogs to get ideas about the style of writing which gets noticed. I have recently learnt that a picture tells a thousand words so to post a great picture to get the first initial interaction is so important. I have recently purchased adobe lightroom to improve my pictures which if I admit is becoming a daily thing to do. Most of the travel bloggers I follow on Instagram (PilotMadeleine, travel_inhershoes and elisecook) being my absolute favourite to check on daily, have the most amazing pictures, which leads to their blogs and social media sites to have more followers and views. I find it hard to keep up the number of follows on my sites and especially my blog which I need to work on.
How were your interactions with other bloggers the past year?
As previously stated I am new to the blogging world, I definitely have more followers on my Instagram (www.instagram.com/misscoddiwompletravel) as I have had that for a while now. My blog does not have very many followers however, the ones I do have I keep interacted with through twitter. I am new to twitter so I try and interact with fellow bloggers daily. I have found that twitter is a great place to interact more than Instagram is. Twitter is definitely becoming one of my platforms for meeting new bloggers. I actually met with a travel blogger who I met through Twitter (Becky the Traveller) who was exploring my local home area, it was great to sit and chat all things travel. I would definitely love to meet with travel bloggers more.
What are your hobbies?
I love photography, even though I do not own a big expensive camera, I do take pictures on my phone (currently looking to invest in a GoPro) I enjoy editing pictures and trying out new things to make them more interesting and eye catching.
I love the gym, I go to a spinning and abs class, Kettlercise and Bootcamp classes once a week. I love to keep fit so whenever I have any free time, and I am not blogging you can find me at the gym.
What is your favourite book or movie?
My favourite movie is; Walk the Line, which is all about Johnny Cash and how he became a country legend. If you haven’t given it a watch I would definitely recommend it.
What is your favourite snack?
I am a big BIG lover of crisps so this is my go to snack. I definitely should cut out the amount I eat, but then it kind of balances out with going to the gym, don’t you agree?? 🙂
Where would you most like to travel to, and why?
Bali is definitely a place I would love to go and visit. I see so many posts from Bali over social media and every picture looks like a dream. I am a big lover of hot weather and blue skies. I would love to do some island hopping and experience a different way of life. I have also not travelled that way before so would love a new travel adventure.
What advise would you give to a new blogger?
First of all you need to make sure the name for your blog is relevant to you and what you will be blogging about. Even before I started my blog I spent time coming up with a name that would be memorable, and easy for people to search for online. I wanted a name that had a meaning that I loved. My travel name is Miss Coddiwomple, Coddiwomple meaning; “to travel in a purposeful manner towards a vague destination” I loved this meaning and thought it would be memorable for others. Try and think of posts you can write about that others can relate to or use for their travels, I have found that posts I have done on advice have had the most views and like. Tell a story to your followers and speak your mind. Make your travel blog stand out.
What’s your hidden talent?
Not a lot of people know this but I can play the piano and got to Grade 6 level 🙂
