A trip to the Leaning Tower of Pisa
One place that was definietly on my list while in Italy was a visit to The Leaning Tower of Pisa. As this was only 1 hour away from Florence I just had to go. I got the 8.30am train from Florence and arrived in Pisa just after 9.30am. The cost of the return train ticket was aroun 20 euros. I set my return time back to Florence at around 2pm therefore allowing plenty of time at the Tower. The Tower was all I wanted to see while in Pisa.
The walk from the train station to the Tower only takes around 20 minutes and you walk straight through the centre of Pisa, through lovely shops, restaurants and cobbles streets. I definitely enjoyed this while on my way back to the station. I wanted to make sure I was at the tower early as I knew it would be so busy, and I wasn’t wrong.
When I arrived it was pretty quiet which was great, however that soon changed. I can only guess that tour bus’s drop people off at the same time as the crowds were ridiculous. At one point I was stood on a post trying to achieve the best Leaning Tower pose when one lady grabbed my arm and said for her to get up on the post that I was standing on! Pisa was definitely full of rude people so be warned. If someone sees you taking a picture in a good spot then a crowd forms around you as they want the same picture. Anywhere you go where there is no one there will soon be a group forming around you.
Far too touristy for myself so I quickly got my pictures and headed back towards the shops, restaurants and cobbled streets. I did however enjoy taking my leaning pictures and watching other people attempting poses. Pisa is definitely a place you cannot miss while in Italy. Just to be able to visit the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa.
